SIFE World Cup, Berlin
4-6 October 2009
2009 SIFE World Cup to Kick Off in Germany
SIFE World Headquarters is pleased to announce that Berlin, Germany, will host the 2009 SIFE World Cup, October 4-6, 2009.
SIFE is excited to be a part of the Twentieth Anniversary of the Reunification of Germany. When the Iron Curtain collapsed and the Cold War faded in 1989, the "Wind of Change" blew through Eastern Europe, ending decades of conflict and limited economic opportunity. As the Berlin Wall was dismantled, East Germany reunited with West Germany, signaling a new era of cooperation and hope. Twenty years later, SIFE students from over 40 countries will visit Berlin to demonstrate how business ideas and entrepreneurship provide boundless opportunities to communities all around the world.

The second annual SIFE Australia Top to Future Seminar is open to C-Suite executives of corporate partners and one peer-nominated student from each team not advancing to the Semi Final Round.
Objectives and Structure of Seminar
The aim is to stimulate discussion and to involve all participants. The process is more important than the end result. There will be four groups of six: two CEOs and four students per group. Groups will be reassigned for each session and there will be two facilitators.
The objectives are:
1. To enable students and CEOs to learn from each other
2. To produce interaction between participants
3. To discuss subjects which are:
- meaningful
- relevant
- understandable
Program
09:00 - 09:15 Assemble and introductions
09:15 - 10:15 Climate change - issues for debate
10:15 - 10:30 Morning Tea
10:30 - 11:30 Career Concerns - relevant to graduates

Topic 1 - Climate Change
In individual groups, list and discuss your responses to the following questions:
- Will it happen anyway?
- Why should I do something about it?
- What are the national priorities?
- What are the priorities for business?
- What outcomes will be bad for business?
- What outcomes will be good for business?

After 45 minutes, there will be a plenary discussion to produce master list that reflects the overall consensus of all the groups.
Topic 2 - Career Concerns
What are the key concerns of graduates today in relation to finding/taking up their first career position? Brainstorm all concerns, discuss with the CEOs in terms of their workplace contexts and shortlist the group's ‘top 5'.
Use the following list as a thought starter. Discuss them, delete or add your own issues and rank the final selection in descending order of priority.
- Will I be earning enough? [And how much is ‘enough'?]
- Will I have a balance between work and sport and home and ...?
- Does the company use latest technology?
- Is my starting role/remuneration unimportant so long as I am well placed for the future?
- Will my employer care about me [other than about work performance]?
- Will I be able to do continuing training? [How much? What sort?]
- Can I take leave when I want to take it?
- Will promotion be on merit?
